The Next Best Thing/Big Thing Blog Hop

Welcome to my answers in the Next Best Thing/ Next Big Thing Blog Hop. By now so many people have done this thing that there’s been a confusion with the name of it! Did it get lost in translation? I suppose so.
For everyone who came here through the links (in my case from Michael Rupured’s blog) or everyone who stumbled upon my post, happy Boxing Day (for the non-Commonwealth people, that’s the day after Christmas)

Here are the questions—

What is the working title of your book?
Conflict of Interest

Where did the idea come from for the book?
As usual it was a small thing: an online news item about a Scotland Yard detective getting caught doing something he shouldn’t. I’m not doing to give away too much. It might spoil the plot.
Of course that will only be part of the story. The romance part is about a Crown Prosecutor who falls in love with the cop he needs to work with as he’s given the case of the corrupt cop. He wouldn’t be one of my characters if love was easy. In fact our CP is royally out of his depth when it comes to love and relationships.

What genre does your book fall under?
It’s romance with a whodunnit sauce

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie?
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that it could incriminate me. LOL
No. I can’t say who I’d want to play my characters because I always “cast” them to start off and they’re almost always actors because that gives me a reason to watch movies (it’s called research, right? I watch porn for the same reason *whistles*) and with their different performances, gives me an idea about how they move, how they talk and how they walk. And then I make them do things they’ve never done before 😉

What is a one sentence synopsis of your book?
Crown Prosecutor falls for police sergeant he has to work with on a corrupt cop case, but finds their closeness is used against them to pervert the cause of justice.

Will your book be self published or represented by an agency?
Neither. I have a publisher who likes me.*g*

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
A good two months, which is incredibly fast for me, but I’m not done yet. Started on my way to GRL on the plane, so halfway through October. Will finish hopefully somewhere in January.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre.
No idea. I try not to compare because if I do I’ll stop writing.

Who or What inspired you to write this book?
My latest celebrity crush (again, I’m not telling!)

What else about your book might interest the reader?
As usual, at least one of my characters is deeply troubled and pretty much damaged goods, which is why he needs an understanding counterpart. I live to bring two people together!
